The CEDS maps seven broad categories across Chaves, Eddy, Lea, Lincoln, and Otero counties. The 2024 shares are normalized within each county, so every row totals 100%. They reveal the shape of each local economy, not the absolute number of jobs in each category.
The Mix Behind the Map

Different Anchors, Connected Markets
The chart makes the broad differences visible; the county roles explain why they matter. Lea and Eddy have the strongest fossil-energy shares. Chaves combines agriculture with healthcare and education. Otero has a wider mix of aerospace, tourism, and services, while Lincoln’s visitor economy is especially visible.
A Regional Strategy Must Travel
No single county profile describes the whole five-county economy. Supplier development, workforce training, freight routes, tourism itineraries, and healthcare access often cross county lines.
